Klimt's "The Kiss"

My best friend & I went to our first Art Uncorked class to do Klimt's "The Kiss".
This is one of my favorite paintings.  I have had a coffee mug with this painting on it forever.

We met at the bar/painting location and had a yummy flatbread pizza and I had a glass of lovely champagne. My BFF had white wine sangria, which she loved.

We started painting after eating & drinking.....which relaxed us and everyone was in a fun mood!
The beginnings.... working on the background.

BFF hard at work on the background.

Adding heads.

This is my finished painting that I brought home.  However, everytime I looked at it I did not like how they look like they are on the edge of a cliff and the proportions of him standing and her on her knees bothered me.  Even though I liked her dress and feet I decided to make changes.
It was easy enough to hold the bottom corner under the sink and scrub off the paint.
Then I went back in and made the changes.

SO here is the finished work.  They are BOTH Standing on a grassy, flower field.
Now I only wish I had not started their head so close to the top of the canvas.
Next time I'll think more about the layout and proportions before starting.

Giraffe in Oil Pastel

A cute Giraffe colored with oil pastels.
I haven't decided on the background.

I think it would be a fun project to add an iPod and ear buds to him or add a pretty scarf for the winter.

Finished a couple more

I decided to add big leaves and some smaller leaves around the sunflower.
I think it is finished.  There can always be more leaves added.
But at some point you have to decide that it is finished.

Also added a few more things, circles, dots, colors & squares on the ground to
wrap up this painting.
It really is a unique version of Klimt's Tree of Life.
Again, more could be painted on, but I think it is finished.

Kandinsky's Concentric Circles

D, age 9, chose to work on Kandinsky's Concentric Circles.
I helped measure out the squares and squeeze out the paint but he took over from there.
He did ask my opinion about color placement a couple times but, he did it all by himself.
