Winter Penguins

The girls loved this idea for winter. They chose their favorite colors for the scarves and ear muffs.

Mom's Night Out Art and Appetizers Friday: Madonna & Child Gold Ink on Black canvas

Working with a picture we each cut out, we placed them on Black painted canvas 

and decorated with Gold Oil Sharpie pens.

Supplies:

Canvas

Black acrylic paint

Water

Picture of Mary & Jesus

Mod podge

Gold ink Sharpie pens, oil based

1.     Cover canvas with a thin layer of water.

2.     Squeeze some black acrylic paint on the water covered canvas and distribute evenly to cover the entire canvas.  You could also do very dark blue or purple.

3.    Cut out the picture of Mary & Jesus leaving mainly their faces.

4.    When the canvas is dry, glue the picture where desired.  When dry, do a coat of glue on top of the picture to seal it down to the canvas.

5.    Let dry.

6.    Start filling in Mary & Jesus’ clothes and background with Gold ink pens.

It was wonderfully busy here with painting going on.

Snowmen Families

Two of us painted our families as snowmen.

Turkey Time!! Art class today we were Painting Turkeys.

Today was our first class.  We painted Turkeys!!  It was fun!

I began the class teaching about Shades & Tints.  At the end of class I reviewed what we learned.  We also talked about Primary & Secondary colors.  I asked the youngest child if he remembered how we would make pink.  He said, "I don't know, you taught us that over 2 hours ago!"

It was so cute & hilarious!!

Klimt's "The Kiss"

My best friend & I went to our first Art Uncorked class to do Klimt's "The Kiss".
This is one of my favorite paintings.  I have had a coffee mug with this painting on it forever.

We met at the bar/painting location and had a yummy flatbread pizza and I had a glass of lovely champagne. My BFF had white wine sangria, which she loved.

We started painting after eating & drinking.....which relaxed us and everyone was in a fun mood!

This is my finished painting that I brought home.  However, everytime I looked at it I did not like how they look like they are on the edge of a cliff and the proportions of him standing and her on her knees bothered me.  Even though I liked her dress and feet I decided to make changes.

It was easy enough to hold the bottom corner under the sink and scrub off the paint.  

Then I went back in and made the changes.

SO here is the finished work.  They are BOTH Standing on a grassy, flower field.

Now I only wish I had not started their head so close to the top of the canvas.  

Next time I'll think more about the layout and proportions before starting.

Giraffe in Oil Pastel

I haven't decided on the background.

I think it would be a fun project to add an iPod and ear buds to him or add a pretty scarf for the winter.
